Otto von Bismarck, the authoritarian Chancellor of Germany, started socialized healthcare in 1883 with the “Reichsversicherungsverordnung” (Reich Insurance Act). However, only certain segments of the society were insured at that time, such as government workers and the elderly. It was Adolf Hitler, who actually completed the process and imposed socialized healthcare on the entire German population, as a part of nazification of the healthcare industry. The mass murders of the Holocaust began and the methods of mass killing were perfected in the hospitals of the German universal healthcare system, implemented by the Führer, Adolf Hitler.
For that reason, Adolf Hitler should rightly be called the *real* father of universal healthcare, at least in a mixed economy. He was the first to regulate the healthcare industry for the entire population in Germany. Of course, the Soviet Union had a universal healthcare system already by 1921, but they were communist. The entire system was collectivized, not so in Nazi Germany, which still allowed privately-owned companies, though they were totally regulated by the Nazi regime. The abuse of the Soviet healthcare system, for example, to diagnose political dissidents as insane and confine them in hospitals, is yet another horror story of universal healthcare when the Government dictates healthcare policy.
Bismarck’s early introduction of socialized healthcare was, itself, a reaction to the growing popularity of Marxism in Europe in the late 1800’s, an effort to build a firewall against Marxism by adopting some of its ideas.
Most of the history that you may read about universal healthcare has been sanitized to hide any reference to this inconvenient historical fact. Many claim that universal healthcare was invented in isolation by tiny New Zealand on the other side of the world, as far away from Nazi Germany as possible. Supporters of universal healthcare do not want you to know that the idea actually came from the Hitler regime.
Part of Hitler’s collective universal healthcare concept was “racial hygiene,” the elimination of certain “undesirable” segments of the society, as life not worth living. This is history that people have largely forgotten, because it is politically incorrect to remember it.
Hitler was inspired by the early development of a Eugenics program in America adopted by more than half the states as law. About 60,000 people were determined by social workers and the courts to be unworthy of reproducing and sterilized in America. Eugenics in America was fostered by Progressives and Progressives are still one of the main factions promoting Obamacare today. Eugenics programs have never ceased in America. They have just become more subtle.

Hitler also literally rolled out by panzer his universal healthcare to occupied France, Belgium and the Netherlands — those countries with mainly “Aryan” populations. Hitler’s jackboots put universal healthcare in place in those very countries that were most “Aryan” and that he wished to perfect by elimination of physical/mental defects in the populations via sterilization and medical “mercy” killing.
The point is not that Obama is Hitler, but that universal healthcare gives any government enormous power that can potentially be misused, if the wrong people are in control, not that it will necessarily be misused at this moment in history exactly as it was in Nazi Germany. This is just much too much power to centralize in the hands of the Government, because governments sometimes go bad. Friedrich A. Hayek, author of “The Road to Serfdom,” stated in his book that the crimes of the Nazis loom so large in our memory that it prevents us from seeing similar trends in our own society.
The first mass murders of the Holocaust were carried out in the socialized German hospitals and the techniques for governmental mass murder were developed and refined there. Several hundred thousand handicapped and mentally ill persons were murdered in Hitler’s universal healthcare system. Retarded and mentally ill children were euthanized and the T4 project did the same for handicapped, mentally ill and elderly adults. In his order permitting medical killing, Hitler called them “mercy killing” and “lives not worth living.” In this way Germany produced great savings in healthcare, not only due to the extermination of existing patients, but many ill persons and their families became too fearful, due to rumors of the killings, to dare check into the hospitals.
Hitler often did not state openly what he intended exactly to be done, but made his orders intentionally vague and open to interpretation. The perpetrators in the Nazi Reich were made to understand by other, more informal channels what the real intentions of the Führer were. The courts and the police were under government control, so neither his actions nor those of his minions could be challenged, not unlike today’s American courts, which are reluctant to challenge the President in some ways.

Robert Jay Lifton, well-know professor and author of the academic study, “The Nazi Doctors“, points out that the extermination of the Jews and others of different ethnic groups was itself seen as a medical solution, a procedure for the collective healing of the Aryan race and the German nation by elimination of the Jewish infection of Aryan blood. So, the entire Holocaust can be seen as an extension of Hitlercare. The extermination camps had doctors and medical personnel, which was an ironic, misplaced comfort to arriving victims. According to Lifton, the fact that doctors and medical staff supervised the extermination helped give the operation some legitimacy to those carrying it out as an authorized “medical” procedure. From that point of view, it is estimated that about 10 million people were murdered under Hitlercare, including six millions Jews. The Nazi plan for fundamental transformation of Germany and the world was ultimately to exterminate about 25 million Jews and Slavs in Eastern Europe in fulfillment of the so-called “racial hygiene” principle of the extremely-efficient and economical German universal healthcare system.
Because resources are always limited, the concept of universal healthcare requires the Government to make decisions on the distribution of healthcare that will determine the survivability of different groups in society. That is, the welfare of the society, as interpreted by government, are placed above that of the rights of individuals.
Once you have given the Government that much power, there is no natural barrier between you and the Holocaust of the Nazis. It is only a matter of degree, of how far they want to take this concept that social welfare trumps individual rights.
This is the inherent evil of universal healthcare. It gives Government the right to decide life and death for entire classes of society, as opposed to individuals contracting for their own healthcare. This is why Hitler valued universal healthcare so highly that he imposed it on conquered countries, not exactly because he was so concerned for the well being of the subjected peoples, but because it gave him the right over entire classes of people to decide who lives and who dies. It gave him the power to engineer the composition of society to his own malicious requirements. Entire classes of people can be eliminated with no judicial process being necessary.
Universal Healthcare in America
This is also the reason that Obama and others in the Government want universal healthcare so desperately, in order to achieve their own fundamental transformation of America. The socialist elite needs to be able to ignore the rights of the individual, in order to be able to engineer their new utopian society. For that purpose, the same kind of centrally-controlled universal healthcare system is required.
The argument should not be whether universal healthcare works or not, but that it goes against American constitutional principles. It worked great in the Nazi Reich for their purposes. It is a very powerful tool that can be misused in the wrong hands.
The American system was not designed by the Founders with the assumption that the Government will always be a good one. In their genius, they knew that it is most probable, even inevitable, that someday a tyrant would attempt to usurp power in the United States. For that reason, they designed a system of limitation of government power, checks and balances into the Constitution, which corrupt politicians and arrogant, unprincipled judges have ignored and circumvented more and more in recent decades.
Universal healthcare is not aligned with American founding constitutional principles and requires a very benevolent, authoritarian government in order to function well. However, if the government goes bad, — as many believe ours already has — then, universal healthcare may become a catastrophe, as it was in Nazi Germany, a true, unsung birthplace of universal healthcare.
The poor, disadvantaged and minorities are being used to spearhead this drive towards universal healthcare, but they have not always benefited from efforts to “perfect” society, but may experience the opposite. The weakest and most vulnerable have often been targets to be eliminated.

Hitler used the authority of doctors and respect of the public for doctors to legitimize his program of mass extermination.
Whether they are a ruthless as Hitler, or not, the Progressives that push Obamacare also want to use it to engineer a utopian society.

William Shirer’s “The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich” (which was written with the express intent to not be a history, but a warning for future generations) has a footnote about Bismark legacies showing how a system of employer/employee-owned, but state-run socialized medicine ended up giving the state the kind of control that Hitler was looking for as a means to control the population. On page 55 of Mein Kampf, Hitler applauds the system as serving his nefarious aims of controlling the people by making them less independent and free and more dependent upon the state. Despite his open policy of anti-Marxism, this was one of his National Socialist planks (No. 21) that he supported whole-heartedly. It sounds like a conspiracy ‘theory’, but when you have overwhelming proof that Hitler actually did conspire, and numerous warnings from history coming from various and reputable sources… maybe, just maybe, more serious thought should be given to these policies – policies whose “selling points” have not changed in 100 years. Otto Bismark (like Bush II), attempted to gain populist support and draw power from Social Democrats, sacrificed the liberty principles of his republic, and created a welfare state – with the necessary coffer-draining bureaucracy, which feasibly was the beginning of his country’s collapse, as it set the stage for the pre-WWI depression (and eventually, set the stage for the fall of the German Republic).

And the declaration of independence? If true they have broken each individuals right, protected against government, state, organization, and corporations.
